A condenser is a common device in thermal engineering and refrigeration systems. Its main function is to convert gaseous substances into liquid state by cooling them, which is called condensation. This process usually involves releasing heat to the surrounding environment.

Main Types of Condensers:

Air-cooled Condensers Cool the gas by using air as the heat transfer medium (e.g., in household air conditioners and refrigerators).

Water-cooled Condensers Use water to absorb heat, often seen in large industrial systems or power plants (e.g., air conditioners, freezers).

Key Principle:

When a high-temperature, high-pressure gas flows through the condenser’s coils or tubes, the external cooling medium (air or water) absorbs its heat. This causes the gas to lose energy, change phase, and become a liquid, completing the condensation process.
